I've never been a hardcore training guy,I was not born into the fire service thru pedigree like some, nor did I have a particularly strong drive to train beyond my immediate comfort zone. The result is that it has made me very strong in some areas and critically lacking in others. Until a chance encounter with Erich Roden I didn't even know the fire blogosphere ,FDIC and other entities like it existed. While it insulated me from a lot of hackneyed, regurgitated, redundant practices and procedures it also deprived me of a great resource to build upon the solid base of firefighting skills I had built-up through tradition, experience and trial and error.I am not sure exactly what direction this blog will take although if I was a betting man I'd say it will have something to do with truck operations and peaked roof ventilation. What I am certain of is this,I am thankful to those at Urban firefighter and Fire Engineering for allowing me the opportunity to write, teach and learn about this whole new world.
